Alfred "Clyde" Hance passed away April 27, 2009. He was born October 2, 1923 in Santa Anna, CA to Clyde and Junea Kay Hance. Clyde was raised in Clarkdale along with his brother Carl. He fought in WWII serving in the South Pacific. Upon returning home to Clarkdale Clyde met and married Mary Elizabeth Morin. They had three children; Terry, Elizabeth Ann who passed away as an infant and Suzan. Clyde worked both as a meat cutter and had partial ownership of the Western Auto. In 1957 he joined Fisher Construction who was in the process of building Phoenix Cement Plant in Clarkdale. Clyde went to work for Phoenix cement in 1959 after its completion until his retirement in 1986. Clyde married Nancy Baker after the passing of Clyde\u0027s wife Mary. Nancy and Clyde were married in February of 1990. They just had the joy of celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary. Nancy has 2 boys Jeff and Mike Baker. Clyde was an active supporter and 4-H Leader for 17 years. His name became synonymous with the Verde Valley Fair. In 2005 Verde Valley Fair dedicated its fair to him. Clyde served as livestock superintendent for many years and also sat on the Fair Association Board of Directors. He was also active in the Yavapai, Coconino County and state fairs. He was also active on the Yavapai County Leaders Council. In addiction he was an NRA Firearms Instructor, Wrangler for the Roveretters Trail Rides. He loved spending time with his family and five grandchildren Katelin Hance, Christine Baker, Aaron Arment, Ryan Arment and Christina Arment.
