Agnes Evelyn Gibson of Phoenix, fomerly of Cottonwood and Sedona, born March 29, 1921 in Hightower, Alabama went home to be with the Lord March 27. She was born to parents John Clinton Mosley and Alma Lee Mitchell of Herd County, Georgia. They moved to Texas when Agnes was 1 year old and lived there until 1936 at which time she moved with her family to Oak Creek Canyon. In 1939 she married Paul Gibson whose family was the last to file a homesteaders claim in Sedona in 1931. In their journey from from Texas to Oak Creek little did the Mosley's realize that on a hot Sunday afternoon in 1936, when they stopped at Frank Gibson's to get water for their old, hot and dry Model A Ford, that one day they would have one of the Gibson boys for their son-in-law. To this union was born one son Randall of Phoenix and two grandchildren Shelly and Chris. One sister, Thelma Dunn of Phoenix; one brother Harvey Mosley of Queen Creek and nieces and nephews survive her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1 in the Verde Baptist Church at 10 AM. Instead of flowers, please contribute to 'The Love Fund' of the Verde Baptist Church, 102 S. Willard St., Cottonwood 86326 to assist the needy. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
