Alan Carl Jacobs

Alan Carl Jacobs, 70, resident of Sedona, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, February 9, 2006. He was born December 22, 1935 to Jack and Mae (Handler) Jacobs in Newark, New Jersey He was a graduate of Weequahic High School and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. Al served his country in the United States Army National Guard, where he was qualified as a rifle sharpshooter and 30 caliber marksman. In 1958, he married the former Myrna Steinberg. In 1964, they moved to North Brunswick, New Jersey where he founded the North Brunswick Township Recreation Department and organized many activities for children. In 1971, he was named Young Man of the Year by the Jaycees. Professionally, he and Myrna owned Relocorp International to which he dedicated his time until he retired. Al was a founder and active member of the Jewish Community of Sedona. He served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Men\u0027s Club. He was also a proud member of the Yavapai Sheriff\u0027s Department and the Arizona Rangers. Al helped organize and participated in the Sedona Police volunteer program. He was also well known at the Los Abrigados Resort in Sedona, where he was a certified personal trainer and entered many of their body building competitions. Al also enjoyed competetive sports, photography, traveling and hiking. A man of vision and compassion, \u0027Big Al\u0027 was a humanitarian who brought positive changes to the people who were fortunate to know him. Al\u0027s advice to the world was \u0027Persevere in the time of adversity.\u0027 He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Myrna Corrine Jacobs of Sedona, Arizona; his son, Larry of Washington, New Jersey; his daughters, Lauren (Steve) Marshall of St. Louis, Missouri and Monica Jacobs of Page Springs, Arizona; his brother, William Jacobs of Marlboro, New Jersey and seven beautiful grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley. Al was laid to rest at the Sedona Community Cemetery.
