Alice C. Crosser

In 1997, Alice Crosser fell in love with Cottonwood, AZ, and moved there to El Rio de Oro Park, where she died April 17th in her home overlooking the mesas of the Verde Valley. Born in 1930 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Donald and Lucille Corey, Alice grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, and later attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. After marriage to James Crosser in 1950, they moved to Schenectady, NY, then the Detroit area, before settling in Whittier, CA for more than 30 years, where she raised her children and did volunteer work. Alice enjoyed golf and sailing for much of her life, including many years of coastal cruising around Newport Beach, CA, and Catalina Island, and chartering sailboats in various parts of the Caribbean. An avid golfer (with four holes-in-one), she continued playing golf until shoulder surgery prevented her from continuing a few years ago. Perhaps her favorite times were the family get-togethers she organized during ski season in Jackson Hole. Always gregarious, popular, and helpful, Alice made many lasting friends throughout her life in Detroit, Whittier, and Cottonwood. A volunteer at the Valle Verde Medical Center, she was always ready to help others and brighten their days. Alice is survived by her son, Kim Crosser; her daughters - Kate Beasley, Susan Crosser, and Janice Holmes; four grandchildren - Joran Beasley, Kenan Beasley, Mariel Beasley, and Corey Crosser; her brother, Donald L. Corey; and her sisters - Carol Chamberlain and Jean Gianelos. Alice's family and friends are invited to celebrate her life in the Recreation Center in El Rio de Oro Mobile Park in Cottonwood, AZ, on Sunday, April 30th, at 1pm.
