Alice L. Waters, 83, of Cottonwood, died on Sunday, November 23, 2014 in Gilbert, after an extended illness. Mrs. Waters was born on July 26, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, and lived there until her family moved to Phoenix when she was 17. She married her husband, Troy, when she was 18. She was a full-time wife and mother of 2, while her husband served in the Navy for 12 years. They lived in New Mexico and Texas, until they moved to Phoenix in 1958. During that time she also worked from their home as a seamstress, until she started work at Motorola in 1963. She worked there as a Military Quality Assurance Lot Processor for 10 years. After leaving Motorola, she worked for several companies as a bookkeeper. In 1985, she returned to ASU and completed classes for automated accounting and computer skills. That same year, she moved with her husband to Lakeside, where they lived until his death in 1990. In 1991, she returned to Mesa to live. After moving to Cottonwood in 1993, she worked as a bookkeeper for the town of Jerome, and also worked in the office at Verde Valley Manor, until she retired in 1998. She resided at Verde Valley Manor from 1996 until her death on 11-23-94. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, and Grand-mother. Always a caretaker, cheer leader, and good friend. She was a strong woman in spirit and faith, who has now gone to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Survivors include her two daughters, Lynne Franks of Gilbert and Mary Witte of Cottonwood; 5 Grand-children; 6 Great-Grand-children, and one sister, Marie Brown of Prescott Valley. A memorial service will be held in Cottonwood at the Westcott Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3rd at 1:00PM with a light reception immediately following the service.
