Alma Paul

Alma Paul, resident of Granada Hills, California passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, California. She was 77 years of age. She was the daughter of James Leslie and Mable (Payne) Jones; and the identical twin of Thelma Jones. They were born January 6, 1931 in Palm Springs, California; the first identical twin sisters ever to be born there. It was in Palms Springs that they grew up and graduated from the local High School. Alma full heartedly supported her husband, Jack Paul while he served his country in the United States Air Force; and accompanied him to Texas as well as to Germany during his service. Professionally, Alma held positions as a Movie Extra for RKO Pictures; Ticket Sales as a Palm Springs Movie Theatre Employee; Women\u0027s Department Salesperson at J.C. Penney\u0027s; and as a Homemaker. Alma loved crafts, and would often make very lovely gifts for her family and friends with Resin and other art materials. Alma dearly loved her husband and her son, but most of all, she loved Jesus Christ and she lived her life totally committed to Him. She reflected devotion to her Lord and Savior in her everyday living; she would spiritually mentor those having need, often pray with people who were sick, and was known to care for others while they were ill or experiencing especially difficult life challenges. It was in 1951 that Alma and her husband, Jack along with Pastors Jack and Jesse Mae Morrow established the Desert Chapel Foursquares Church of Palm Springs, California. The first church service was held in Jack and Alma\u0027s home; and to this day it continues to be a thriving life center that ministers to the spiritual needs of many thousands of people in the Palm Springs area. Alma was very active in lay ministry positions, sang in church choirs, and conducted extensive missionary support activities throughout her life; including local leadership of the United Foursquare Women Chapter in El Cajon, California, as well as countless responsibilities she willingly fulfilled in furthering the Cause of Christ at churches wherever God had placed her family in fellowship. Alma\u0027s greatest desire was always for people to accept Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior and Lord; to love him and live their lives accordingly. Alma Paul is and will always be remembered as the kindest, sweetest, most precious, most tender-loving, most compassionate, most long-suffering, and the most gracious woman that will ever live on this earth. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Howard Paul of Cottonwood, Arizona; her mother, Mable (Payne) Jones; her father, James Leslie Jones; her twin sister, Thelma; and her sister, Wanda. Alma leaves behind her son, John Howard Paul II with his beloved wife, Kathryn Elizabeth Paul of Granada Hills, California; her brother, Reverend Wayne Jones of Colorado, and her Brother-in-Law Lee Paul of Florida. In tribute to her life lived, a Funeral Service will be held at the Sanctuary of the Cottonwood Assembly of God Church, 750 East Mingus Avenue in Cottonwood, Arizona on Friday afternoon, May 2, 2008 at 1:00pm. Following, Alma will be laid to rest at the Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, Arizona during a private invitation-only graveside service.
