Alvira Lucinda Dunkin, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. She was born on May 10, 1910 in Omer, Colorado to John Gottchalk Johnson and Anna (Anderson) Johnson. Alvira was a high school graduate who continued her education at the Barnes Business College in Denver, Colorado. She dedicated 23 years of her professional life as a bookkeeper for Lewis For Books, located in Reseda, California. While residing in Reseda, California she was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Alvira love poetry and writing; and she wrote many short stories and poems. She leaves behind her son, Duane Kent Dunkin with his wife, Christina of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her brother Donald A. Johnson with his wife, Faye L. of Cottonwood, Arizona; her sister, Anna Lorene Earl of Farmersville, California; and two grandchildren. Alvira is preceded in death by her husband, George Erskine Dunkin; and a sister, Dorothy J. Walker. Alvira will be laid to rest at the Los Angeles Naitonal Cemetery in California on Thursday, February 7, 2008. Local arrangements are private.
