Longtime Cornville resident, Arba Frey, passed away April 11, 2003 just two months short of her 99th birthday. Mrs. Frey, the daughter of Charles Allerson Rice and Sally Belle Martindale was born in Cuero,Texas on June 17, 1904. She came to Arizona in 1920 and to Flagstaff in 1922. On July 22, 1928, Arba married Theodore \u0027\u0027Ted\u0027\u0027 Frey, the son of J.B. Frey and Aganetha Baltzer. The couple moved to the Cornville area in February 1929 where they lived until their deaths. In her younger years, Mrs. Frey was active with the Republican Women. For a time, she was also a participating member of the Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls in Cottonwood. She enjoyed her family and loved children. Many besides her own grandchildren called her \u0027\u0027Grannie\u0027\u0027. Each of then was privileged to have known her and benefitted from her wisdom and love. Her husband and parents predeceased Mrs. Frey. Surviving her are a brother, Sam Rice of Winslow, Arizona, several nieces and nephews and her four children and their families: Children: Karl and Emily Frey of Cornville; Martin and Barbara Frey of San Diego, California; Nancy and Clint Self of Cornville; and Cal and Jeanette Frey of Prescott. Grandchildren: Keri and Mike Blankenship; Norman Frey; Lisa Frey; Mike and Karen Frey; Becky and Mark Alvarado; Karen and Pat Tavasci; Keith and Cheri Self; Brian and Sharon Self; Jesse Austin; Aaron David and Sarah Frey. Greatgrandchildren: Ron and Suzy Blankenship; Neil and Tammy Blankenship; Cody Frey; Jacob Frey; Christopher Straass; Dustin Frey; Heather Frey and Lauren Alvarado; Jenna Alvarado; Elisha and Steve Brown; Jarrod Tavasci; Aimee Self; Tayler Self; Kylie Self; Jessica and Ryan Stokes; Dylan Self; Ely Self; and Jordan Austin. Greatgreatgrandchildren: Tanner, Katie and Kaycie Blankenship; Jacob Maxton; Paige Hess; plus one on the way. Services will be held at the graveside at Valley View Cemetery, Clarkdale on Friday, April 18 at 1 PM. Arrangements were handled by Westcott Funeral Home of Cottonwood.
