Arthur Mainwaring, 85 of Cottonwood, AZ died Saturday, October 27, 2012. He was born on August 4, 1927 in Manchester, England to (deceased parents) Arthur and May Mainwaring. Arthur is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ruth Mainwaring of Cottonwood; his daughters Patricia Young of Nevada and Kathryn Mainwaring Russell of Washington; son-in-law Ed Russell of Washington; step-son Roger Provine of Ohio; stepdaughters Cindy Borkman, Daryl Jones of Cottonwood and Danielle Svaleng of Prescott Valley. He also has 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Jean Mainwaring of Cottonwood; daughter Heidi Jean Mainwaring of Cottonwood and sister Flo Addington of Manchester, England. Arthur was a wonderful, thoughtful and generous husband, father, stepfather, brother and friend to many. He used his intellect and leadership abilities to great benefit for his various memberships, associations, professions, WWII as well as to his many family members and friends. Arthur\u0027s accomplishments included: Free Mason, 3rd degree, 1956 in Ontario , Canada ; Master of the 32nd degree, Scottish Rite, 1980 in USA and Honorable 25 year Scottish Rite Mason, 2005 in USA . He admitted in the Shriner\u0027s in 1981 in California ; President of Mingus Mountain Shriners in 2000 and involved in various annual fund-raising activities such as the "Clothe the Child". He also belonged to the American Legion. He was formerly a member of the England Legion due to his WWII Army service; honored to be admitted to the American Legion in Cottonwood , AZ Post 25; received a Certificate of Appreciation as a proud WWII Veteran in 2004 in Cottonwood which was presented by the American Legion. Arthur was honored the Certificate of Merit in 1985 in California, Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards in recognition and appreciation of the meritorious service performed in the promotion, development and maintenance of apprenticeship training, the California Apprenticeship Council, community and the State of California. Arthur served in the British Army during WWII and was issued the 1939-1945 British War Medal. Arthur worked numerous electrician and engineering positions in England ; Ontario , Canada ; California and Pennsylvania . His most notable career position was Superintendent of Crafts for the maintenance of the Stanford Nuclear Linear Accelerator Center in Stanford , California in 1979-1985. Arthur enjoyed Billiards, camping, traveling, auto mechanics, carpentry, electronics, investments, swimming, hunting and fishing. No memorial service is to be scheduled.
