Barbara Zoe Walters, daughter of Lindsay Mackey and Dorothy Watt Sulier, passed away peacefully May 30, 2016 in Cottonwood, Arizona. Barbara was born January 29, 1934 in Boulder City, Nevada. She spent her youth in Saint Ignatius, Montana and later attended University of Montana. She resided and worked in Missoula for several years, eventually moving to Kansas and then to California where she raised family and worked in various capacities. Barbara moved to Cottonwood in 1974, and resided in nearby Clarkdale at the time of her death. For 21 years, she was employed by Verde Valley Medical Center where she established and subsequently directed the cardiology department. Those years included an appointment to Town of Cottonwood Planning \u0026 Zoning Commission and serving on the Cottonwood Public Library board. Barbara was a true professional in the medical field. She was well-known for her grace and generosity, lighthearted humor, care for animals, and avid love of reading. Her nurturing disposition extended to family and friends in such a way that made those around her feel loved and cherished. Her intelligence, sharp wit and sense of humor remained until the end. Barbara was preceded in death by daughter ReNell Medley, husband Donald Walters, brothers Donald Mackey, James (Doug) Mackey, and infant Walter Sulier. She is survived by her son L. Russell Kerr and grandsons Nathaniel and Matthew Kerr, including step-children Donald, Randy, Cheri and Cynthia Walters, Jack Boast, and their children and grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters include Russell Sulier, Pat Lujan, Virginia Sulier and John Sulier, cousin Mary Sulier, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cottonwood Public Library in her name. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood.
