Dearl William Holt, known and loved as "Bill", passed away in his Cottonwood home on Sunday, October 5, 2008. He was 75 years old. He was born on June 20, 1933 to George W. and Willia Holt in Haskill, Oklahoma. As a child, he attended schools in California; as a young man, Bill served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy; and as an adult, he worked as an Operating Engineer for the Pierce Company Road Crew; and later on in his life, he and his wife, Lotus, fully enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their R.V.; often times volunteering their time at various State and National Parks. Bill also volunteered at the Central Arizona Food Bank and at the Old Town Mission. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He adored his family; and in return, his family cherished him. Bill will be greatly missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered for his guidance and love. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Lotus Holt of Cottonwood; his daughter, Elvonne Holt of Florida; four sisters, Christine Eubanks and Juanita Parker-both of Oregon, Margie Ogletree of California, and Georgie Ogletree of Oklahoma. Two grandchildren; as well as, Wayne and Darlene Westcott of Chino Valley also survive him. Bill is preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Donald Holt. Bill was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church, located at 102 E. Pima Street in Cottonwood. In memory of him; a Memorial Service with military honors will be held at the Church on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00am.
