Bonnie J. Roper

Bonnie J. Roper (nee Verhaeghe), 81, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at Cottonwood Village, Cottonwood, AZ.

Bonnie was born October 26, 1943, in St. Charles IL, the daughter of August and Clarice Verhaeghe. She grew up on a farm in Huntley IL, with her parents and siblings Daron, Dale, and Sherri. Her greatest joy in life was being a mom to her three sons Brian, Jodie, and Chadd. 

In April 1977, she married Tom Roper in Elgin IL, where they resided until 1994 when they moved to Cottonwood AZ. 

Bonnie loved her summer vacations to Minocqua, WI, where she spent her time on the water either fishing or water skiing. While in Arizona she became an avid hiker, hiking the Grand Canyon twice from top to bottom and every mountain she could find.

She had a strong faith in her Verde Community Church where she was a member for over thirty years, singing in the choir and joining her close-knit church members in Bible study. 

 Bonnie is survived by her sons, Brian (Babe) Ziller, Jodie (Pam) Ziller, and Chadd Ziller. Her Grandchildren Clayton (Melissa) Ziller, Chase (Tarah) Ziller, Jake (Erin) Ziller, Joanne (Will) O’Hearn. Her Great-grandchildren, Landon, Colton, Cannon, Easton, Paisley, Case, Jeremy, Heston, Lilly, and Dahlia. Her brother Dale (Alyce) Verhaeghe, Sister Sherri Bakley. Nieces, Summer Bakley, Chandra (Nick) Kanakanis, Kali (Brad) Sass, Missy Verhaeghe, and Amanda (Adrian) Williams. Along with numerous Great nieces and nephews. Special Friend Mark Sorenson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, brother Daron, grandsons Lucas and Heston Ziller. 

The family is forever grateful for all moms’ friends, neighbors, and caregivers who were always there for her needs.

 Services will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 1:00pm at Verde Community Church.

Private burial will be held in Huntley Cemetery, Huntley, IL at a later date.
