Brian Mickelsen, beloved husband, father and son, passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, August 18, 2007. Brian was a life-long runner and passed away while running in the area of Bill Grey Road. He was 49 years old. Brian moved from Minnesota to Flagstaff, Arizona where he attended NAU. After graduation in 1982, he worked more than two decades serving the City of Cottonwood where he ultimately became the City Manager. Brian and his wife Lin met in Flagstaff while he was attending NAU. After graduation Brian and Lin were married; they just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in June. Brian will always be remembered for living life to its' fullest. He had many passions and talents. Brian was a gifted planner and designer; he and Lin built their current residence located on the Verde River. He loved participating in many sports, including running, biking, snow skiing, volleyball, roller-hockey, hiking, camping....the list goes on. His friends and family will always remember him for his easy-going demeanor and sense of humor. The most important thing in his life was his family. He rarely, if ever, missed his sons' soccer games, cross country meets or any other events they or his wife may have been involved in. His survivors include wife, Lin, sons Dane and Ky, parents, Delores and Gordon of Northfield Minnesota, brother Bruce (Jean) of Montana, sister Lynn of Minnesota, father- in-law Jim Anderson of Clarkdale, sister-in-law Mary (Fernando) DeLeon of Flagstaff, brother-in-law Ron Anderson of Tolleson, brother-in-law James Anderson (Betsy) of Maui and several nieces and nephews. Brian's many, many friends and family will truly miss him. A celebration of Brian\u0027s life will be held on Friday, August 24 at Riverfront Park. People may begin to arrive at 4 PM, the service will begin at 5:30 PM.
