Carl O. Hanson

Carl Orville Hanson, 79, of Clarkdale died December 3, 2012. He was born June 20, 1933 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Mildred Hanson. He attended Lincoln High School in Manitowoc from 1948-1951. Mr. Hanson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Laverne University in Criminal Justice. He served with the Army National Guard from 1949-1951 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Hanson joined the Navy and served as an aviation mechanics\u0027 mate during the Korean War. He then worked as aircraft mechanic for Raytheon Corporation at Ft. Magu, California. Mr. Hanson became a police officer with the Ventura (California) Police Department, earning the rank of Lieutenant, where he worked as a detective and a motor officer and later Juvenile Services. He was named Police Officer of the Year in 1970. He was an active church member who also enjoyed camping, fly fishing, family adventures, firearms, sports car rally and slaloms, hiking, bible studies and he was an avid reader. His family remembers him as the greatest man ever known. He loved God, people and had a heart to serve. Mr. Hanson leaves his wife of 57 years, ShirleyMay; sons, Eric Carl Hanson (Sue) of Portland, Oregon and Neil Craig Hanson (Donna) of Canyon Lake, California; a brother Lynn Wayne Hanson (Carl) of Anacortes, Washington and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9 at Mountain View United Methodist Church, Cottonwood, Arizona at 2 PM.
