Carl Le Roy Layman, 69, resident of Lake Montezuma, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007. He was born on January 2, 1938 in Dorris, California. Carl served in the United States Army as a medic. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and in 1976 with a Master's Degree in Education. He taught school at Beaver Creek School from 1971-1996 and later served on the school board. He was a proud member of the Montezuma-Rimrock Fire Department from 1973-2006. Carl was an active member of his community and a loving grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Layman; his parents, Claude and Ruth Layman; and his brother, Robert Layman. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Layman of Whittier, California, Larry Layman of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and Gary Layman of Zortman, Montana; his sister, Chloe Zinn of Chula Vista, California. He is also survived by his daughter, Delyte Nasch of Camp Verde, Arizona; son-in-law, Craig Nasch; grandchildren, Brittany, Reid, Brett, and Kennedy; as well as, many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:00am with interment to follow at Middle Verde Cemetery in Camp Verde.
