Carl Leo Wacker

Leo Wacker, 85, a resident of Sedona, master gardener and retired mason, died May 6, 2006. He was born December 14, 1920 in Beisecker, Alberta Province, Canada, to Fred and Lydia Wacker. He was one of five children; two brothers, Ruben (deceased), Orville; two sisters, Virginia Dubach, and Clara Mendonca, all from California. Leo married Irene Walsh on October 23, 1943 in Sacramento, California. Leo and his wife, Irene, served as Presidents of the Mister \u0026 Misses Club' with All Hallows Catholic Church in Sacramento. Leo worked as a farm equipment operator, Greyhound bus driver, and most notably as a mason. Leo and Irene moved to Cottonwood, AZ in 1971. It was here that Leo ran his own masonry company, WACKER MASONRY, until he retired in 1985. His trade he taught to and was pursued by his two sons, John and Tom, in California and Arizona. Leo was active in the Verde Valley Elks Lodge, serving 7-years as the Lodge Chaplain and chauffeured Veterans to Prescott VA for several years. Leo enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, hunting and beamed with delight with each new grandchild and great grandchild. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Irene Wacker, of Cottonwood; two sons, JOHN and Marilyn Wacker, California, TOM and Terri Wacker, Cottonwood; two daughters NANCY and Richard Wills, Nevada, and CARLEEN Garcia and Scotty Rollins, Cottonwood; Twelve grandchildren; Sara, Kelly, Erica and Leann Wacker; Jennifer and Brandon Wacker, Lisa (Wills) Gibson, Tim Wills, Mary (Wills) Zimmerman, and Kevin Wills; Kristen (Garcia) Russell and Danny Garcia; Fourteen great-grandchildren; Samantha, Jessica, Richard and Marshall Gibson, Stacey, Melody, Treavor, Braeden and Christine Wills, Katy, Asa, Ben and Sophie Zimmerman, and Kase LEO Cree Wills. Rosary will be held on Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home. Memorial Mass Tuesday, May 16: 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Bill Gray Road Graveside at 11:30 a.m. Valley View Cemetery.
