Carol Elizabeth Choate-Miller, 75, resident of Parks and the Village of Oak Creek-Sedona, Arizona, passed away August 5, 2006 in Camp Verde, Arizona, with her daughter by her side. Carol was born May 17, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to Raymond Spencer and Frances Hester (Griffin) Choate. While in her youth, Carol attended and graduated from Kingswood/Oxford High School in 1949; following which, she attended the University of Vermont, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree - graduating in 1953. Carol then continued on at the University of Hartford, where she received her Masters of Education, and then completed her M.S. Degree at the Southern Connecticut State University. Carol was a lover of knowledge, and in 1980 she took classes in counseling; completing her 6th year of college. Carol taught school at both elementary and special education levels. She also developed her own counseling business for families, married couples and individuals struggling with substance abuse. She was a brave and determined woman. She was very proud to be born again in Christ. She enjoyed camping, antiques, traveling worldwide, history - especially the old west, and meeting new people. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan E. Miller III; her sister, Frances Jane Choate Turnier; as well as her parents. Carol leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth H. Spada, with her husband, Joseph, of Camp Verde, Arizona; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her very faithful friend, Tray Belle A Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10:00am at the Sedona Community Cemetery.
