Charles Fant

May 1, 1937 — January 27, 2012

Charles Fant, 74, of Rimrock died January 27, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1937 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Roy and Louise Fant. After working in the Texas oilfields for many years, he decided to attend Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas. After graduation he preached at the Church of Christ in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. After retiring from preaching he sold time shares in Sedona, Arizona. He was a member of the Verde Valley Christian Church in Cottonwood. Charles enjoyed many hobbies in his lifetime including bicycling, riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, gardening and hiking (including the Grand Canyon quite a few times). He mostly loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Charles was a dynamic and magnetic personality with the ability to make friends wherever he went. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson Andrew Lujan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Ramona; one son Gary Wayne Fant (Alina) of Camp Verde; daughter Laurie Diane Fant of Rimrock and Cheryl Lynn Lujan (Adrian) of Odessa, Texas; brother Ronnie Gebe Fant (Ellen) of Colorado; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottowood on Thursday, February 2 at 3 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 or to the Relay of Life (www.cvrelay.org) and donate to the team "mighty, mighty Fants". An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
