Charles Bernard "Bernie" MacMaster, 75, of Cottonwood died February 14 at his home. He was born the last of nine children, April 11, 1934 in Inverness, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Charles W. and Kathryn (MacDonald) MacMaster. Bernie was a retired barber and worked for the Ford Motor Company for 22 years. During his retirement he worked for the last 12 years as a funeral assistant at Westcott Funeral Home. During the Korean War he served in the Army. He was a communicant at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post #25 and was 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, currently a member of the Verde Council #2493. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary T. MacMaster and six brothers. Bernie is survived by two brothers, Archie MacMaster of Inverness, Nova Scotia, Canada and A.L. MacMaster of Dearborn, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 23, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 AM. Inurnment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. VFW Post #7400 will provide military honors. Donations in his memory will be used to erect a flagpole on the grounds of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
