Charles Alfred Mairet, "Pipestone Charlie", of Cottonwood, AZ passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was 58 years old. He was born on August 19, 1955 in Davenport Iowa to Earl and Mary Mairet. Charlie grew up in a musical family and learned to play guitar, piano and harp. He moved to Arizona in 1986, but never stopped missing his family. Charlie lived a varied life, working in professions from housekeeping and construction to water purification and deep sea fishing, but his ultimate passion was as a carver and artist. He loved fishing, carving and spending time at the river. "When we look around we will see him in the splendor of this valley in all of its beauty and in the tranquil river that he loved. He is in his art work; and he lives in each of our hearts." Charlie was preceded in death by his son Dylan, and his father Earl Mairet. He is survived by his mother, Mary Mairet, and brothers Roger, Michael and Paul, and sister Julie; and his daughter, Bethany; and his best friend and partner of over 25 years, Flory. A celebration of Charlie\u0027s life will be held on Saturday, June 21th at 1310 E. Gila St., Cottonwood, AZ 86326 at 2 PM. Please bring a dish and a memory to share.
