Charles H. Schult, 92, of Sedona died August 31. He was born October 29, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Lane Technical High School with honors in 1928. He attended Northwestern University Buisness School for two years. He joined Pure Oil Company which eventually became Union Oil Company, working his way up from clerk to marketing, operations and sales, focusing on transportation, where he worked directly for the Vice president as head of Distribution. He was a member of the American Petroleum Institute representing Union Oil in Washington, DC. His entire career was with Union Oil, retiring after 47 years in 1975. He continued to work as a consultant in the oil industry for several years after his retirement. His first marriage of 39 years was to Arlene Hein of Chicago, who died in April 1976. They had three children, Sandra, Charles and Roger. During World War II, he served in the European theater as Staff Sergeant and platoon leader for the Corps of Engineers, Company \u0027\u0027C\u0027\u0027 290th Engineer Combat Battalion, earning several mdeals, including a Bronze Star for meritorious service against the enemy. Mr. Schult was active in Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was an usher at St. John Vianney Catholic Church for many years and was a member of the Sedona council of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed extensive international traveling and cruising with his wife, Christine. He was an active member of of the Poco de Ablo Tennis Club until his illness, he enjoyed working with stained glass and was loved by all for his subtle wit and sense of humor. He leaves his wife of 27 years, Christine D. Schult; a daughter Sandra S. Cesca of Carmichael, California; two sons, Charles W. Schult of Chicago, Illinois and Roger R. Schult of San Francisco, California; and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 12 in St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Soldier Pass Road in Sedona at 10:30 AM.
