Charles E. Simons

Charles E. Simons, 83 of Clarkdale, passed away November 14, 2010 in Camp Verde. He was born April 15, 1927 in Buffalo, New York. Charles attended Princeton University and Oberlin College. He served in WWII. He worked for the First United Methodist Church in Hampton, Virginia as director of music for 45 years. He then attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale as an organist for 10 years. He loved landscaping and stained glass and has many commissioned pieces throughout the Verde Valley. Charles was preceded in death by brothers Al and John Simons and sister Ann Simons. He is survived by son Stephen Simons (Jen) of Virginia; daughters Alice Weathersby (William) and Joy Simons, both of Arizona; brother Gordon Simons (Peg) of Connecticut; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A service will be held on December 28, 2010 at 11:00am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale. Any donations may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1175 Clarkdale, AZ 86324.
