Cheryl G. "Dee Dee" Elmer, 61, of Sedona died January 18 at her home. She was born December 28, 1948 in Jerome, the daughter of Arthur and Lucille Newton. She attended Sedona schools. Mrs. Elmer had worked as a secretary. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Sedona. Her hobbies included hunting, gardening, antiques, sewing and animals. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family. She was preceded in death by a son Doyle Newton. She leaves her husband, Jay Elmer; daughter Julie Elmer of Cottonwood; brothers, Don R. Elmer of Sedona and Dean A. Newton of Sedona; sisters LaVern Jones of Grand Junction, Colorado, Bonnie Jackson of Lake Montezuma, Phyllis Christy of Sedona, Sharon Terry of Sedona and Vivian McCroggen of Cornville; and one grandchild Dillon Lightfoot. A funeral service will be held Saturday January 23 in the First Assembly of God Church in Sedona at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Sedona Community Cemetery.
