Clarine Ive (Balaty) Andrew, 91, passed away January 20, 2011 in Cottonwood, AZ following a long illness. Clarine was born to John and Laura (Maxson) Balaty in Grand Junction, CO on March 23, 1919, the third of 8 children. Her family moved to Ouray, later to Gunnison and then to Canon City, CO where she graduated from high school with the class of 1937. She married high school classmate Harry B. Andrew in 1942. Clarine and Harry moved their family to Cripple Creek, CO in 1946 where Clarine was a telephone operator for more than 10 years. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1965 and Clarine was employed as a writer/editor for Ampex Corporation until she retired in 1982 and moved to Cottonwood. During her retirement, Clarine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, crocheting and volunteering at the Cottonwood Commodities Store and Verde Valley Guidance Thrift Store. Besides her husband of 68 years, she is survived by one brother: Wallace Balaty and his wife Bonnie of La Habra, CA; three children: Nancy (Andrew) Ortery of Lakewood, CO; Ned Andrew and his wife Virginia (Beagles) of Colorado Springs, CO and Ted Andrew and his wife Stephenie (Coffin) of New Milford, CT.; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
