Clint York of Cottonwood died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the age of 65, after a courageous 5 year battle with kidney cancer. Clint was born November 2, 1946 in Cottonwood, AZ to Hazel (Barnett) and Joel York. He attended elementary school at Sedona Grade School, and then finished school in Yuma, AZ, graduating from Kofa High School in 1964. He attended Arizona Western Junior College in Yuma for 3 years before heading to Tempe to study at ASU for 2 more years. Clint served his country in the Army for 2 years during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sgt. E-5. Clint was a carpenter and general contractor for over 40 years and owned York Construction in Watsonville, CA. He was a member of Verde Valley Christian Church and he enjoyed reading and bible study and playing cards for fun. He also loved hunting, fishing and hiking, and all outdoor activities. Clint was very involved in A.A. and the local Celebrate Recovery group. Clint was preceded in death by his father, Joel York. He is survived by his mother, Hazel Barnett of Cottonwood; his loving companion of many years, Jean Rhen of Cornville; his son, Joel York of San Diego, CA; his sisters, Kay York of Cottonwood and Nicole Russell of Cottonwood; his aunt Colleen Nash of Cottonwood; several cousins in the area and many good friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 3605 Zalesky Road, Cottonwood, AZ at 11:00 AM.
