Connie K. (Rider) Rogers loved and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend passed away at home on Sunday, July 14, 2013, after a brief illness. Connie was born Oct. 27, 1938, in Midland, MI, to Ralph and Verda Rider, and with her husband and high school sweetheart, Jim Rogers, moved to Phoenix in 1964, and to the Verde Valley in 1979. Connie will be sorely missed by the many lives she touched. She was a respected, valued, and even loved employee at Verde Valley Medical Center, from which she retired in 2004 after 23 years of service as Executive Assistant to five different Presidents. In that role, she also served as Executive Assistant to the Board of Directors, and led physician recruitment efforts for several years. Beyond that, Connie spent her life giving to, and caring for, others, and she was truly happiest in that capacity; she cared for her mother-in-law for more than 20 years and for her own mother until she was no longer able, as well as helping to raise two grandchildren. Following her retirement from VVMC, she served on the Board of Directors of The Old Town Mission and Rusty's Morningstar Ranch, a residential facility serving autistic adults. Connie was the rare person who had both the wisdom and grace to contribute at the Board of Directors level as well as personally provide loving, hands-on care. Connie is survived by her husband, Jim, of 55 years, her mother, Verda, two children son, Tad of Denver, CO, and daughter, Misty of Cottonwood and three grandchildren Ellen Rogers of Denver and Tyler and Taylor Rogers of Cottonwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM, in the old chapel at Verde Baptist Church, where she was a well-loved member. Donations in Connie's memory may be made to Rusty's Morningstar Ranch, Post Office Box 759, Cornville, AZ 86325-0759. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com.
