Dale E. Shandera, 77 of Cottonwood, passed away on September 22, 2012 in Glendale. He was born on December 31, 1934 in Kimball, Nebraska to George and Cecilia Shandera. Dale attended school at Nebraska Country School for 8 years, high school in Pine Bluffs, WY for 4 years and Chadron State College for 6 years. He served his country in the Army where he served as a Corporal. Dale worked in farming in Nebraska, teaching in both Nebraska and Wyoming, a business owner in Wyoming and a school counselor in Arizona. Dale was also a Boy Scout leader. He was Past Grand Knight of the Verde Council Knights of Columbus, a member of Father Michael Hurley Verde Valley 4th degree Assembly and a Lector at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Dale is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peg of Cottonwood; sons Tom (Jeri) of Cottonwood, Jim (Shannon) of Lake Tahoe, CA and Rob (Dawn) of Cottonwood; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, September 28 at 11:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. A memorial mass will follow at 12 noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood.
