Darlene K. Newman, 72, of Sedona died Saturday, February 16. She was born October 6, 1935 in Sioux City , Iowa the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kriv. A graduate of the Sioux City Public Schools, she went on to study at the University of Minnesota . She was a very creative person, she worked as an art teacher, designer, artist and a homemaker. Her works were displayed in galleries and art fairs. Mrs. Newman was a member of the Jewish Community of Sedona and Verde Valley . She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves her devoted husband of 52 years, Harry L. Newman; a son, Robert Newman (and his wife Debbie) of Los Angeles, California; a daughter Michelle Newman (and her husband Louis Castonguay) of State College, Pennsylvania; a brother Harold Kriv (and his wife Estelle) of Skokie, Illinois; a sister, Reva Schwartz (and her husband Michael) of Deerfield, Illinois; one grandson, David. A funeral service was held Sunday, February 17 at the Jewish Community Center of Sedona and the Verde Valley . Burial followed in the Sedona Community Cemetery .
