Darrell Jay Christy, 85, of Sedona died May 7. He was born February 6, 1924 in Selby, South Dakota, the son of Samuel Powell and Bernice Luella (Godding) Christy. He served his country during World War as a sergeant in the Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theater Service Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the Purple Heart, Victory Medal and the Bronze arrowhead. Mr. Christy was a member of the Sedona United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hiking the trails of Sedona and the Grand Canyon and other outdoor activities. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Christy; sons, Stephen of Sedona, Ronald (Lisa) of Flagstaff, David (Catherine) of Buckeye and Charles of Phoenix; daughter, Sharlene (Daniel) of Clarkdale, brother Donald (Frances) of Grand Forks, North Dakota; sisters Leah of Glendale and Jean (Raymond) of California.
