Daryl E. Hastings

Daryl E. Hastings, 86, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. He was the son of Eugene Wesley and Juanita Geraldine (Barnes) Hastings. He was born in Windsor, California on April 1, 1921. Daryl attended and graduated Balboa High School. He served his country during WWII as a Radioman 3c in the United States Navy. For his dedicated services Daryl was the recipient of numerous Naval Medals. Daryl worked for Carnation, as well as ABC Nissan. His greatest accomplishment was utilizing his skills as a baseball player in the Semi-Pros. His interests and hobbies included Camping, Fishing, Baseball, Golf and Automobile Racing. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Georgia L. Hastings of Cottonwood; four sons, Douglas Hastings with his wife, Debra of Chino Valley, D.B. Hastings of Cottonwood, Peter Keller with his wife, Jeanie of Sacramento, California, and Denis Keller also of Sacramento, California; two daughters, Valerie Dahl with her husband, Robert of Carmel, Indiana, and Vickie Thompson with her husband, Michael of Peoria; his sister Audrey Monistier of Sun City Grand; as well as, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11:00am. Daryl will be placed to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cavecreek. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to: Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, Arizona 86326, or to the Verde Valley Care Givers.
