David Butler German, 73, resident of Camp Verde, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. He was born in 1934 in Flagstaff, son of Homer and Lucille German. During his youth he attended the Flagstaff and Camp Verde Schools. David served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. He dedicated 35 years of his life to the United States Forest Service; working mostly on the Kaibab National Forest in Williams. Following his retirement in 1989, he then moved to Camp Verde in 1992 where he made his final home. David was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed photography, computers, and building WWII model airplanes. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Carol German of Camp Verde; two daughters, Kim Downey with her husband, James of Peoria, and Staci Whitman with her husband Adam of Flagstaff; one brother, Charles German with his wife, Linda of Camp Verde; two sisters, Nina Upton with her husband, Bob of Camp Verde, and Peggy Hansen with her husband, Jerry of Twin Falls, Idaho; and four grandchildren. A Memorial Service including full military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 10:00am at the Camp Verde United Methodist Church in Camp Verde; where David was a member.
