David R. Moss

January 17, 1924 — July 3, 2007

David R. Moss, 83, of Cottonwood, Arizona, born January 17, 1924, went with the Lord peacefully on July 3, 2007. Dave was born in Logan, West Virginia, where he attended Greenbrier Military School. After graduation, Dave worked in Mining until Pearl Harbor-when he joined the United States Air Corp. Dave had a natural-born entrepreneurial gift; and upon his honorable discharge in 1945, Dave had the largest Paint and Supply store on Wilshire Boulevard in Bakersfield, California. David has lived in Arizona since the early 1960's. He twice ran for Governor and once for the U.S. Senate for the state of Arizona. Previously, Dave ran several successful businesses in Phoenix; one being the Tortilla Flat, which has long been a stopping point for tourists in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains near Apache Junction. Somewhere in that mix, in the tiny enclave of Wickieup, Arizona, Dave had a bar-restaurant-curio shop. He then gravitated to Cottonwood, where he started a restaurant and the Town's Trading-Post in Bridgeport for the last 19 years. A colorful person would best describe Dave. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Larsen of Cottonwood and his sons, David Craig of Seattle, Washington, Duane Paul "Duke" of Cornville, and Blake Forest Piere of Seattle, Washington and one grandson. There will be no memorial service. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
