Dawn Grace Stewart, 83, of Cottonwood, passed away on October 11, 2015 at the Verde Valley Hospital. Dawn lived in Greenwich Village New York and worked as a copy editor for the New York Times for 44 years. She traveled widely throughout Europe. After her retirement, Dawn moved to Poplar Ridge, NY and took care of a family property known as The Octagon House. She later moved to Cottonwood and became an active volunteer at the Adopt for Life Center for Animals. For five years she was a dedicated dog walker and often donated toward having shelter dogs groomed for potential adoptive families. Dawn is survived by her brother, Alan Stewart of Canby, OR and her sister Marsha Dietrich of Cottonwood, as well as her nieces Susan Dietrich and Lynette Webb and her nephew William Webb. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents Orlo and Ruth Stewart, her sister Sharon Stewart and her nephew David Stewart. Funeral arrangements will be held privately by the family. Donations in Dawn\u0027s memory should be sent to the Adopt for Life Center for Animals, 1520 West Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.
