Dean Arthur Newton of Sedona passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 in his home. He was 78 years old. Dean was born on February 25, 1936 in Smelter City, AZ to Arthur Clyde and Lucille Faye Newton. He attended school in Sedona, later on owning and operating Newton Sand and Gravel. He attended the Sedona Cowboy Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting guns. He also enjoyed collecting antique service station memorabilia and the rebuilding of classic cars. Dean was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Sandra Lee Newton. He is survived by his sons, Jerry Dean Newton of Sedona, Tommy Joseph (Bev) Newton of Cottonwood and Ronald Allen (Ivy) Newton of Cottonwood; his brother, Don (Bobbi) Newton of Yavapai County; his sisters, Lavern (Wayne) Jones of Cottonwood, Bonnie Jackson of Lake Montezuma, Phylis (Mac) Christy of Sedona, Vivian McCrossen of Cornville and Sharon (Mike) Sue of Sedona; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Cowboy Church in Sedona on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10 AM with burial to follow at Sedona Community Cemetery.
