Don J. Helton, 84, of Cottonwood died January 20, 2011. He was born June 25, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Omer and Edna (Hines) Helton. He attended Kansas State University. He served his country in the Navy and as pharmacist mate 2nd class during World War II. He worked as golf ranger, tour guide and was an entrepreneur. He enjoyed golf, tennis and crossword puzzles. He will be remembered as the best grandfather ever who loved to tell jokes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Helton and daughter Terri L. Helton. Mr. Helton leaves two sons, David Helton and Shawn Helton, both of Phoenix; five grandchildren including Cara Nickoley; and six great-grandchildren.
