Donald R. Cook, 76, of Dewey, died January 19, 2012. He was born January 29, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the son of Rodell A. Cook and Helen Diehr. He was a graduate of Berea High School and he received his Bachelors degree from San Diego State University. Staff Sergeant Cook served his country with 20 years of active service in the Marine Corps. During that career he received the following commendations: Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal, Certificate of Merit, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal, United State Service Medal and a Certificate of Commendation for his years a drill instructor. He was also a retired counselor with the State of Arizona. He enjoyed metal detecting, wood and metal working. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by a brother and his mother and stepfather Helen and Arthur Diehr. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Roberta Cook; a son Donald Cook, Jr. of Huntington Beach, California; daughters, Dawn Cook Ziglari (Hussein) of Folsom, California; brothers Elden Cook of Houston, Texas, Dewayne Cook (Sylvia) of Georgia and Robert Cook (Joan) of Ohio; sisters Marlene Cook Pasko (Clyde) of Ohio, Sandra Repenning of Ohio, Eunice "Honey" Massie of Ohio; stepson Stephen D. Charlton (Ana) of Escondido, California; stepdaughters, Jill R. Charlton Cramm (Brian) of Castle Rock, Colorado, Carrie M. Charlton-Oliver (Don) of Amarillo, Texas and Shannon L. Purlee (Darrell) of Dewey; and nine grandchildren. Military services will be held on Friday, January 27 in the Prescott National Cemetery, Prescott, Arizona at 3 PM.
