Donald D. Whaley

Donald Dean Whaley, 78, of Clarkdale died April 18. He was born May 3, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Kingman High School and was a railroad agent for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe. He was a Navy veteran serving as a ground radioman. He enjoyed tennis, golf, church and family. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Ada Charlotte Whaley; three sons, Steve Whaley, Norman Rowden and Jeff Rowden; two daughters,Debra Rowden Bevins, Julie Rowden McCormick; parents Donald Grant Whaley and Ruth Elizabeth Whaley; twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dan lived in the Verde Valley 30 years, loving it\u0027s red cliffs-beautiful Mingus Mountains. Upon retiring railroad, he spent his time at family reunions, playing tennis with grandchildren, serving a mission in the West Indies for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, watching his favorite University of Arizona basketball team and last but not least, spending time with the love of his life, Charlotte. As he served in the community and the church, he was loved by so many and he will be missed deeply. As a special tribute to our Daddy Don and Grandpa, Steve, Pam, Norman, Peggy, Debbie, Steve, Jeff, Tina, Rob, Julie, Theresa, Todd, Amanda, Taylor, Tyson, T.J., Becky, Tony, Viki, Brad, Corbun, Merridy, Michelle, Bridgette, Darrington, Tyler, Tiffany, Charla, Michael, Kori, Daniel, David, Leigha, Robbie, Victoria, Brandon, Haylea, Michael, Emily, James, and one on the way, we say, we love you and will miss your hugs! Thank you for your great example and for all you taught us! And from your eternal companion, I love you forever! A funeral service was held April 22 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial followed in the Valley View Cemetery. Westcott Funeral Home handled these arrangements.
