\u003cbr\u003eDorothy Fain Benatz of Clarkdale died Oct. 4, 2005, she was 88. She was born August I, 1917 in \u003cbr\u003eShepherd, Texas to J.C. and Hazel Connell Fain. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, George, her sisters Elsie \u0027Petie\u0027 Moore and Elosie Turner, her brother J.C. \u0027Bus\u0027 Fain \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShe is survived by her daughter, Janice Benatz of Clarkdale, her son George (Dianna) Benatz ofPhoenix, and grand children Denise (Greg) Buckley of California, Jason (Sunny) Benatz ofClarkdale and Albert Rutkowski of Cottonwood, and numerous nieces and nephews. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShe came to McNary , Arizona in 1926 with her family in a Model T, later the family moved to Williams, Arizona. She graduated from Arizona State Teachers College in Flagstaffwith a BA in English in 1938. She was president of the Associated Women Students her senior year. She came to Clarkdale in 1938 to work at the Clarkdale High School as secretary to Superintendent G. B. Jones. She was employed at the high school which later became Mingus High School unti11959. She then went to work for the Town of Clarkdale for 17 years, the last ten years as Town Clerk. She retired in 1976. She served two terms as \u003cbr\u003eMayor of Clarkdale, from 1980 to 1988. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShe was a past member of the Clarkdale Business and Professional Womens Club, the Soroptimist International of the Verde Valley, P.E.O., Chapter I, the Clark Memorial \u003cbr\u003eClubhouse Restoration Committee and the Verde Valley Country Club Board of Directors.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eSevices will be held Monday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, burial to followat Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn lieu offlowers the family suggests donations to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Organ Fund or Verde Valley Humane Society. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAn online guestbook is avialbale at www.westcottfuneralhome.com \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e
