Dorothy DeReu Smith went to our Lord on May 13, 2024.
“Dottie” was born in Waukegan, Illinois, and lived there until she married Robert H. Smith in 1954. They moved from Lakewood, California to Camp Verde, Arizona in 1987.
Dottie was a devout Catholic and for many years was an active member of the St. Frances Cabrini Parish. She loved her family, square and round dancing, water sports, flying with Bob in their aircraft, camping touring the U.S. together. Dottie was an avid reader and student of the Scriptures and spiritual texts.
She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband for 59 years; her parents, Al and Emily DeReu, and her brother, Eugene.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kassandra Werth-Smith, and great-grandson Levi, in Southern California; and brother, John (Ginny) DeReu in Libertyville, IL.
Visitation will be a Westcott Funeral Home on June 1, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Parish in Cottonwood on June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Dottie expressed a special thank you to Michelle and Trisha and all those who helped her over the last several years. Burial will be at the All-Souls Cemetery in Cottonwood. Donations in her memory should be made to the charity of your choice.
