Dorothy Vauclain (Colyer) Gerlach, better known as "Dottie", 93 of Cottonwood and formerly of Altoona, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 10, 2014. Dottie was born Feb 8th 1921 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Kenneth Vauclain and Pauline Regina (Rowan) Colyer. She married Jay Gerald Gerlach in Fort Wayne Indiana, October 1942. They had one son, Jeff. She was preceded in death by a sister Mary Virginia Colyer, a brother Harry Kenneth Colyer and her husband, Jay. Dottie graduated from Altoona High School in 1938 and then attended cosmetology school. She worked for most of her career at Ann Rice\u0027s Beauty Salon in Altoona. She was a member of the Altoona Hospital Auxiliary, the Women\u0027s Club and both Altoona Chapter #290 Order and Ruth Chapters of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1961. She was a long time member of St. Luke\u0027s Episcopal Church in Altoona, where she taught Sunday school and served on the Altar Guild. After moving to Idaho in 2003 she became a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Pocatello. There she continued to be very active in her church callings, knitting prayer shawls and arranging altar flowers. She is survived by her son Jeff Gerlach and his wife, Lorraine (Burris) Gerlach of Cornville Arizona. A memorial service will be held in late October at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pocatello, ID.
