Dorothy L. Ghee, known and loved as Dottie, resident of Cottonwood, passed from this life peacefully at home-with her family by her side-on Monday, January 7, 2008 at the age of 76. She was the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Hall) Charter, born July 4, 1931 in Colchester, Illinois. Dorothy resided in Des Moines, Iowa; where she worked for Des Moines Auto Auction for 16 years. During her life, Dorothy was also privileged to be a housewife, mother, and homemaker. Each role was fulfilled with love and devotion. Later on in her life, when she became a grandmother and even a great-grandmother- she too fulfilled these roles with grace and tenderness. It was in 1988 that Dorothy moved to Cottonwood; where she loved the red rock country and made her final home. Dorothy enjoyed painting, working on various arts and crafts, and decorating. She had a passion and a special love for music, and became a very talented pianist. Dorothy will be deeply missed and remembered forever by her family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Bobbie G. Charter. Dorothy leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Ottie Paul Ghee of Cottonwood; her son Steven P. Ghee of Iowa; three daughters, Debbie Laughman with her husband, Mark of Iowa, Lori Ghee-Seil of Iowa, and Angela OConnor of Arizona; as well as, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 1:30pm at the Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 East 25th Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
