Dorothy D. Smith, resident of Lake Montezuma, passed away in Cottonwood on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the age of 97. She was born November 3, 1910; the daughter of Wesley and Genetta McKinney; born and raised in Hinton, West Virginia, where she graduated from the local high school. Dorothy was the Bailiff in Phoenix, Arizona for the Judges visiting Maricopa County. She enjoyed making various crafts, but she especially enjoyed hiking and actually hiked the Grand Canyon six times after turning the age of 80. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Smith; her son-in-law, Erwin Schmidt; and her daughter-in-law, Debra Smith. She leaves behind her son, Don Smith of Cottonwood; and her Daughter, Joan Schmidt of Lake Montezuma; and her brother, Forest McKinney with his wife, Shirley of Penacola, Florida. A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church, where Dorothy was a faithful member on Saturday, April 26, 2008. The Visitation will begin at 10:00am; with the Funeral Service to at 12:00pm.
