Dorothy Faye Garner Warden, 93, of Cottonwood died August 30. She was born May 16, 1916 in Sherman , Texas . She had a sister Eula, brother Ira He, father John James Garner died three months before Dorothy was born. Her mother Nellie, remarried two years later to Carl Smith, they had seven more children. The family moved a lot picking cotton and field work. Dorothy left home at 17 ½ years old to live with her sister Eula. She met James Gotchen at a carnival in 1935 and was married. Had three children, girls, Virginia was born June 5, 1936 , Jeannie on March 3, 1938 , Janis on January 15, 1940 . They were known as Jen, Jeannie, and Jan. Dorothy and James were divorced in 1945. Dorothy went to work at the Veterans Hospital Cantina fro 11 years and where she met one of her longtime friends. She was a waitress most of her working life, meet a lot of people, famous people, spent time with her three daughters. On the beach of Santa Monica , California . She was very active in life with her daughters and went from Tennessee to Hawaii and other wonderful places. Through her three daughters she had twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren and another one on the way. Dorothy was known to a lot of people. Everyone that knew her loved her and was intrigued by her strong spirit, wisdom and longing to live a great life and she did. Many people knew her as "Dot". One of her great-granddaughters named her "Miss Hollywood". Yes that was her. Look at her pictures. From fashion to loving people, her family and her friends. She loved to dance, laugh a lot, loved to travel, loved country music. She was 81 years old when she climbed Diamond Head in Hawaii . An amazing person, she rode a horse at 90 years old and of course kissed one too! "Dot" loved to live life like most of us should. If you did not know "Dot" and just met her, you would fall in love with her within five minutes. She had a very big impact on people around her. She was the throne of our family and all her children sat at her feet. She showed us wisdom, unconditional love and she was the perfect example of living life right. We will miss you dearly and we love you more-from daughter Jen, granddaughter JoAnn and all the rest of her family. \u0027Till we see you again. A visitation for Dorothy Warden will be held Friday, September 4 in the Texarkana Funeral Home in Texarkana , Texas from 5-6:30 A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 5 at 10 AM in Redwater Cemetery in Redwater, Texas.
