Douglas E. Aune, 75, of Lake Montezuma, was taken peacefully and quickly to God, by the grace of Lord Jesus, on September 9 at his home as he sat on his deck enjoying the beauties of nature. He was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and returned to Minnesota to spend 18 years before moving to Arizona six years ago. He enjoyed his life\u0027s work in the house construction field where he was self taught in every phase from architecture blueprints to the actual building. He had a love of the outdoors, particularly in boating, sailing and canoing, taking extended solo wilderness trips in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Canada at the age of 50. He was an artist in waterclor, an avid reader of history and possessed a quirky sense of humor to the delight of his wife of 22 years, Patricia Laliberte. He leaves children, Michael, Christopher, Sverre, Shannon, Keven, Angele and Aimee; a brother Keith; nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as six stepchildren, Mary, Dan, Marci, Greg, Carol and Michelle; six stepgrandchildren from his marriage to Patricia. He chose to reside in death close to his family in Ohio where a memorial service is planned. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday September 25 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood at 10 AM. Final arrangements are under the direction of Westcott Funeral Home.
