Elizabeth D. Winter, 84, a resident of Sedona died July 30. Elizabeth was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, a coal mining region in Pennsylvania. She moved west with her parents and entered nursing school at St. Mary\u0027s Hospital in Astoria, Oregon. Upon completion of her Registered Nurse degress, she enlisted in the Army Nurses Corp and sailed for duty in both Britain and France during World War II. After the war she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where she met her one and only love John Winter. They stayed on the west coast settling in Camariilo, California where they both worked at the State Hospital. She and John returned to Boulder City, Nevada where they enjoyed many happy years of good neighbors and events. John passed away in 1998 and Beth wil join him at the VA Cemetery in Boulder City. Beth was known for her helping hands and daily exercises. She will fondly remembered by her family and friends. She is survived by a son James Winter of Pomona, California; two daughters, Joan Owen of Sedona and Barbara Bowles of Ojai, California; three grandchildren Brent Bowles, Jeremy Bowles and Janna Riis-Vestergaard; two great-grandchildren Travis Riis-Vestergaard and Aaron Riis-Vestergard. Private burial was held in the Southern Nevada Veterans National Cemetery at Boulder City, Nevada. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 2707 East Van Buren St., Phoenix, AZ 85008. Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with these arrangements.
