Ellannette Babcock, of Cottonwood, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the age of 89. She was born September 6, 1913 in Tucson, Arizona to Ralph and Allie Ward Aspaas. As a small child, she moved with her family to Colorado where she lived most of her life until retiring to Cottonwood in 1987. Ellannette married Jack Whitworth in 1939. They had one child, a son Ward, who died July 10, 1973 at the age of 22. Jack passed away in 1978. She married Kenneth Babcock in March 1981. He died in November 1992. Ellannette enjoyed a long career as a teacher, who will be remembered for her positive influence on her many students. Mrs. Babcock is survived by her sister Helen M. Brown of Sun City, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. She was lovingly known as \u0027\u0027Granny Berg\u0027\u0027 by her grandnieces and grandnephews. Also surviving is her friend Gerald Johnson. Mrs. Babcock was predeceased by her parents, one sister and three brothers. A memorial service will be held at the Marvel Methodist Church in Marvel, Colorado in June. Memorial Donations in her memory may be made to the Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S.
