Elsa Sack Howard, 89, of Cottonwood died July 14. She was born April 7, 1920 in Bremen, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Frieda (Fricke) Papenhausen. Mrs. Howard served the United States Government as an interpreter for the Army. She worked for a jewelry store in Sedona. She had a love of animals, reading, traveling and caring for others. She had an incredible laugh and could make everyone else join in. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam J. Sack and also by her second husband, William Howard. She leaves a son, Sam Sack of San Diego; special nieces, Patricia Turner of Oklahoma, Elsa Boren, Renata Papenhausen and Mary Brickner, all of Ohio; brothers, Henry Papenhausen (Joan) of Ohio and William Brinck of Ohio; a sister Emma Gustwiller of Ohio and close friends Carolyn Pearson and Helen Wolfgang, both of Sedona.
