Emma L. Brown, 84 of Cottonwood, died Jan. 29, 2013 at home. She was born Oct. 11, 1928 in Flushing, Michigan, the daughter of Jesse and Alta Knight. From mid-life through retirement she lived in Rialto, California and worked for many years as an executive secretary for the Loma Linda University School of Public Health Promotion and Education. She retired from this position at 65 and moved to Arizona to be close to friends she knew at the Cottonwood Seventh Day Adventist Church. She lived in Cottonwood for the last 19 years of her life and enjoyed volunteering at the Verde Valley Medical Center and the Verde Valley food bank for most of those 19 years. She is survived by her Harold of Chattanooga, TN; her daughter, Linda of Hollister, CA; her son Steve of Cottonwood, 4 grandchildren: Brandon, Brian, Joshua and Samuel, and 5 great-grandchildren.
