Erma F. Dobyns, 78, of Cottonwood died May 17, 2005 after a courageous and valiant fight against several illnesses. She left this world peacefully surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Erma was born in Liberty, Arizona on August 26, 1926 and grew up in the Verde Valley. She was the daughter of Jesse and Sylvia Self and the oldest of 7 children. She was devoted to being a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her four children, which she raised in the Verde Valley. Erma was the ultimate example of what a mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and wife should be. Erma loved to travel and was a member of the Ladies Elks Lodge and the Historical Society. However, her greatest pleasures came from sharing life with her family, whom she loved with all of her heart. While she may not be with us physically, she will always be in each of our hearts because we have all been lovingly molded by her. She will be loved and remembered forever by her husband of 40 years, Faires Dobyns; daughters Sheila Mongini and Patricia Wallace; sons Tom Mulcaire and Mike Mulcaire; brothers Clinton Self, Lloyd Self, Alvie Self, Howard Self, Melvin Self; grandchildren Chelli, Kalene, CheriDawn, Kimberly, Pierre, Jess, Heather, Monica, Heidi, Joe, Megan, Chelsey, K.W. and fourteen great-grandchildren.
