Esther Viola Abbey

Esther Viola Abbey, 88, of Mayer, Arizona passed away on Thursday, January 27th. She was one of twelve children and was born on February 3, 1916 in Hoople, North Dakota. Mrs. Abbey was a retired federal employee having worked for the U.S. Agricultural Department in Fargo, North Dakota. After her retirement she moved to Arizona and was a member of the Community Church in Cordes Lakes. She was also a member of the Cordes Lakes Community Association and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Abbey on November 1, 1940. A widow at the age of 24, she raised four children and worked full time. Mrs. Abbey is survived by three daughters: Marilyn Heeren of Colorado; Yvonne Kelting of Wyoming; Jan Ayers of Washington; a brother: Cecil Storrud of Montana; six sisters: Mable Branvold of New Mexico; Rhoda Abbey of South Dakota; Berniece Wildhagen of Arkansas; Lois Ballard, Jerry Stoorud, Verna Knutson all of Montana; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 4th at 10:30 A.M. at the Community Church in Cordes Lakes. Westcott Funeral Home Of Cottonwood assisted the family with arrangements.
